CloudLocker is a personal cloud device created by StoAmigo, based in Paradise, Nevada. The CloudLocker offers cloud storage, data conversion, and file sharing all powered by the StoAmigo platform. Unlike a public cloud service, which involves a third party with access to users' digital media, CloudLocker is an on-premises cloud solution that stays in the user's possession. It connects to a home or office network via a plug and play interface.

Background on privacy concerns
Cloud computing and storage are widely acknowledged to be the next big thing, but many people are wary of privacy concerns and uncomfortable with storing their personal data, pictures and videos on somebody else's server. The core challenge in data privacy is to share data while protecting personal information. Public cloud storage services, such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Dropbox, do not offer the same level of protection for personal information that would be available if that information is kept in your home or office, according to a report by the World Privacy Forum. The report found that "information stored by a business or an individual with a third party may have fewer or weaker privacy or other protections than information in the possession of the creator of the information." The report goes on to state that "both government agencies and private litigants may be able to obtain information from a third party more easily than from the creator of the information."

CloudLocker capabilities
CloudLocker is one of the many different personal cloud options in the market today. CloudLocker falls into the "server device cloud" category of personal cloud solutions. CloudLocker attempts to address the internet privacy issue by providing a personal cloud server that users keep in their sole possession. It gives them global access through any remote browser or any of a user's internet-enabled devices. Files stored on CloudLocker can be accessed from a PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet via the StoAmigo platform with a StoAmigo account.
The StoAmigo desktop, web and mobile applications are designed for sharing, viewing and streaming digital media. CloudLocker can be used for file sharing with anyone, even if they do not have a StoAmigo account. Users decide how to share their digital media. A user can set permissions for recipients to view-only, to download or, if a share is private, the file or files cannot be shared with anyone else. Users can share files, folders or lists with multiple contacts and customize the permission settings for each person. A user can arrange to receive notifications of who viewed or downloaded shared files and thus establish an audit trail of access to specific files and folders. Users may modify the settings of shared files at any time after the share or choose to retract the shared files with everyone, or just with selected recipients.
Users can create and listen to playlists and watch video files with continuous play on any of their devices by streaming from their CloudLocker with no downloading required. The native media player streams files from the CloudLocker and because it is DLNA compatible the user is able to view the media content that is on their CloudLocker on a DLNA TV or other DLNA device. CloudLocker comes with USB ports that a user can attach external hard drives to and the CloudLocker will use that space as additional storage, thereby making storage space limitless. The StoAmigo Android and iOS app have the option to create a QR code on a mobile device to share a file, folder or list of files, such as a music playlist.
